Under the Canopy will be getting funky and soulful with the sounds and vibes of New Orleans! This co-bill presents 3 sets of music taking us past the outdoor curfew and into the night... just the way they like to do it in the Crescent City. We will open up the evening Under The Canopy with an intimate solo performance from John Papa Gros, followed by the Caribbean combos, soul, funk & blues of Paul Cebar and Tomorrow Sound (Milwaukee). Then we close the night indoors with a John Papa Gros' full band performance for that funky Big Easy dance party!

6pm - Doors
7pm - John 'Papa' Gros (Solo) - Under The Canopy
8pm - Paul Cebar omorrow Sound - Under The Canopy
9:30pm - John 'Papa' Gros (Full Band) - Inside Theater

--------------------

New Orleans has its fair share of musical ambassadors, but few are more rooted in the cracked sidewalks and popping speakers of the Crescent City than John “Papa” Gros. Born and raised in the city, Gros melds funk, rock, jazz, and blues to deliver a sound that is both innovative and unmistakably New Orleans.

In keeping with the energy and spirit the Big Easy is known for, Gros is a consummate live performer. His infectious band shows have been the highlight of festivals and venues across the U.S. and Europe, showcasing versatile musicianship, relentless grooves, and eclectic songcraft of the highest order. Drawing on the full breadth and depth of his extensive catalog, Gros’ live performance marries style with substance, bringing that unique, can’t-put-your-finger-on-it magic of New Orleans and infusing the audience with a joyous energy few artists can match.

John “Papa” Gros is a bedrock New Orleans artist, a keyboardist, singer and songwriter who draws on funk, rhythm & blues and Americana songcraft; he also knows his way around the Mardi Gras music repertoire about as well as anyone.” – Keith Spera The New Orleans Advocate

--------------------

Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound bring forth a funky, lyrically charged performance that sits comfortably with soulful sounds the world over. Intricate but free-swinging, explosive yet intimate, fresh and green as grass. Taking cues from the dance bands of western Louisiana (and his native Midwest), the streets (and 45’s) of New Orleans, touring African and Caribbean combos and the soul, funk & blues of his youth coupled with early, teeth-cutting experience in the verbal hotbeds of the coffeehouse scene, Paul Cebar is a masterful synthesist of rhythmic culture.

“I’ve been a fan of Paul’s for a long time. He and his band play great funky, original music, drawing from a wide range of styles I love. We love touring with them and his radio show is awesome.” -BONNIE RAITT
